Only 1,270 units of the Porsche Carrera GT were produced, and it was found in the assembly lines for only two years, from 2004 to 2006. The development of the Porsche Carrera GT is owed to its predecessors, the Porsche 911 GT and the LMP1-98 racing cars. However, to remain in compliance with the new FIA guidelines, both of these designs had to end. At that time, Porsche had planned to make a new prototype on the Le Mans concept back in 1999. Initially designed to use a turbo charged flat 6, the Porsche Carrera GT was later remodeled to accommodate a brand new V10 engine.
